KCA graphic about the number of child abuse cases reported daily in Kalamazoo County.

Every day in Kalamazoo County, an average of 13 new cases of child abuse and neglect are reported but many more go unnoticed and unreported. It is the mission of the Children’s Alliance to advocate for the safety and well-being of all children in Kalamazoo County.

Through training, education, and universally available resources, we seek to treat and prevent child abuse and neglect in all cases. At Community Healing Centers, we believe that knowledge is power in preventing abuse which is why education is our central focus. Whether you need an advocate or want to become one, the Children’s Alliance can help you take a stand against child abuse and neglect.

The future of our society is dependent upon our children and their opportunity to fulfill their potential. We have a moral commitment to be involved in that process. We have a duty to take an active stance and be innovative in fulfillment of this commitment. We believe that every child has a right to a safe and joyful childhood!

Services Offered by the Children’s Alliance

Kids Are Special

Our exclusive Kids Are Special sexual abuse prevention program uses music, puppets and interaction to teach children ages three to seven about an appropriate response to unsafe touch. Through this program, children are given the tools to identify safe and tricky people and empowered to use their voice for their safety.

Community Education

Community Healing Centers works to equip those who work with children to know the signs of child abuse and neglect and the procedures for reporting it. We offer training for mandated reporters that is facilitated through MDHHS. We also offer Safe Sleep Training for Caregivers. Our Safe Sleep Training program equips caregivers, parents, and professionals with the knowledge and skills to create a safe sleep environment for babies. Through evidence based practices, participants learn the importance of proper sleep positioning, safe sleep spaces, and how to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Together, we can promote healthier outcomes and provide peace of mind for families.

Family Help Book

Our Family Help Book helps families identify resources for support in times of need. These books are distributed free-of-charge to individuals upon request. Bulk pricing is available to social service agencies.
