Job Summary: Community Healing Centers’ Development Specialist will play a key role in collaborating with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and the Marketing & Communications Manager to plan, coordinate, and implement strategies to cultivate donors and contributions to the organization. The Development Specialist will work closely with donors, volunteers, and agency team members to support key areas of development, marketing and communications, and fundraising activities for the organization known as Community Healing Centers (CHC). This position is responsible for overseeing donor services and administrative duties for the Fund Development Department. The Development Associate’s responsibilities support the agency’s overall operations and fundraising strategies, aiding in fulfilling our mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the CDO to further develop and implement the organization’s short and long-term development plans in accordance with ethical fundraising principles.
- Responsible for supporting growth of giving programs, including Planned Giving, Monthly Giving, Major Giving, corporate sponsorships, and annual campaigns.
- Grant research and grant writing monthly.
- Collaborate with CDO, Marketing & Communications Manager, and committee staff and volunteers to coordinate and execute annual fundraising activities and events.
- Maintain a detail-oriented donor database, including tracking donor status, donations, and demographic changes.
- Ensure timely acknowledgements of gifts to the organization, including generating and mailing formal tax-exempt thank you letters.
- Frequent proofreading and editing of communications and marketing pieces.
- Represent CHC at community meetings, events, and local functions, as needed.
- Embrace, support, and implement Community Healing Center’s vision and values related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
- Perform other supportive duties, as requested.
Skills and Abilities:
- Extremely detail-oriented, organized, and accurate.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Event planning experience is preferred
- Grant writing experience is preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and CRM donor software (Kindful); or the ability to quickly learn and become proficient in use of this software.
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure in an occasionally fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate the highest degree of security and confidentiality to protect sensitive donor and organization information.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or progressing towards a degree
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Proof of COVID-19 and Influenza Vaccinations, annually
Working Conditions:
- Work will be performed indoors in a climate-controlled office or remotely, as approved by the supervisor.
- While limited, you may have direct contact with alcohol and drug users including individuals that may use injectable drugs.
- Injectable drug abusers are at elevated risk for tuberculosis infection and other illnesses. All staff are required to be screened for tuberculosis and understand that exposure to tuberculosis is possible.
